Our Back Country Cane line of rods are basic, yet powerful, highly functional hand-crafted bamboo fly rods. These rods are made from some of the finest bamboo available, strong, and will last a lifetime. Functionality is the main goal of these designs, not artistic beauty.
Getting Started
Each project starts with a conversation. You tell us the rod length, line weight and the action you are trying to achieve. Equally important is how you intend to fish it, what type of water, what species of fish and what conditions the rod will be used in.
From there, we will design and build a rod to meet those specifications. A small deposit will be required on the rod when the project begins. A timeframe for completion will be established, and we will stay in touch via email with updates on the build during the process. Back Country Cane rod builds take 2-3 months and range in cost from $1,500 – $2,000.
We stand behind our bamboo fly rods with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. The rod will cast the designated line – a 5 weight rod will cast a 5 weight line, guaranteed. If any manufacturing defect is found, we will correct it, or we replace any rod or component that breaks during any basic fly fishing activity. And we stand by our rods and our workmanship for life.
