Our Svenska™ line of custom-built and custom-embellished bamboo fly rods are truly exceptional. This collaboration combines the high quality of a Ron Scott bamboo fly rod with the artistic excellence of master goldsmith, artist (and life long friend) Lisa Svedberg. Each rod is crafted to the owner’s exacting specifications. Then the rod is embellished, personalized and decorated by Svedberg to reflect the owner’s personality, interests and character.
As with all our custom-made rods, our Svenska rods start with a consultation. You tell us the rod length and line weight, the action you are trying to achieve, how you intend to fish it, what type of water, what species of fish and what conditions the rod will be used in.
Once the specs have been established, Ron Scott will begin to build the rod.
Add Custom Embellishments and Design
In parallel to the rod build, Lisa Svedberg will work with you to design the embellishments and decorations for the rod. She’ll design and hand craft custom reel seats, unique stripping guides, beautifully-wrapped and varnished windings checks and other custom components. The colors and styles will be your choice. Other elements – custom reliefs or engravings that reflect your personality, your interests or things in your life you want to celebrate can be included. Imagine a custom-designed fly rod decorated with your college emblem, a family crest, a company logo, a tribute to the military branch you served in, your family, pet or anything else that is close to your heart. Just tell Lisa and she can work with you to include something special on your Svenska rod.
Once a design concept is established, Lisa will give you the cost estimate to include the design on the rod, and no work will begin until you agree to that cost.
When your custom Svenska rod is delivered, you will own a absolute work of art – one that will not only be beautiful and reflect your passions and personality, but one that will cast better than any other bamboo rod in your collection. Truly an investment you will be proud of for years to come.
All Svenska rods come with lifetime annual maintenance free of cost. Just send it back to us once a year, and we will perform annual maintenance to keep your rod looking, and performing at peak condition.
About Lisa Svedberg
Now residing in Lewisburg, West Virginia, (by way of Camden, Maine) Lisa Svedberg, designs the artwork, the eye appeal, the “embellishments,” that adorn our Svenksa line of fly rods. Anything else that makes the Svenska line more aesthetically pleasing, highly-valued and collectable are all because of her artistry and craftsmanship.
Lisa and Ron Scott have know each other since they were young kids, living next door to each other. Their fathers were best friends, who made wildlife movies together. Because of their influence Ron and Lisa were always exploring the woods and fields around their very rural neighborhood. Lisa became a “rock hound” and found great enjoyment in searching for quartz crystals, which she then sold from a small table at the end of her parents driveway!
Her love of the outdoors and beautiful materials led her first to the Worcester Art Museum School, then to the Worcester Center for Crafts, where she focused on creating metalwork and jewelry that would showcase the incredible world of natural crystals and gemstones.
With over 45 years of experience in creating high carat gold and platinum jewelry, her work is inspired from an amalgam of extensive travels and study of the art and architecture of ancient civilizations. She has developed an original style of hand-crafted sculptural designs, incorporating quartz, Australian opal, South Sea pearls, tourmaline and tanzanite and more, all created especially for the discerning jewelry collector.
